In a previous post I mentioned that there would be tables set aside at Nu during the course of the Urban Diner Awards, right in front of the presentation stage. These amount to 50 seats sitting at 6pm sharp, an hour before the doors open for the winners and invited guests. Nu is now ready to receive your reservations on a first come first serve basis. Details after the beep…
I’m afraid about 15 seats already sold today before I was able to post this (the Democratic primary calendar has taken over my life - sorry), but with some good luck and good dialing skills you might score before they sell out. If it’s already sold out, get on the waiting list.
150 others will be there too, standing room only, but they will be winners (just gold, no silver or bronze), some media, and those who’ve added their names to our draw (to add your name, just send me a note).
This’ll be a fine dinner on a very special night, with chefs from Raincity, C, and Nu taking part. Not only will those quick on the draw be treated to a front and center show celebrating the best in BC’s restaurant business, it’ll be mighty affordable, too (four courses for $50).
If you want to reserve today before the seats all go, call the restaurant at 604-646-4668 right now and see if they still have room.
There endeth the “come to dinner” shill.
MCing the event will be Urban Diner publisher Andrew Morrison (me) and CTV news anchor Coleen Christie.
To present some of the more special awards we will welcome Jamie Maw, Pino Posteraro, John Bishop, Karri Schuermans, Vikram Vij, Don Letendre, Sid Cross, and David Hawksworth.
On the sponsorship front, R&B Brewing has donated some kegs, PMA is bringing in some wine, and the staff at Nu will be passing around little bites with some help from their suppliers. EAT Magazine is in, and so is the Chef’s Table Society of BC. It’s certainly going to be a party, a night to remember even, but we could still use some more assistance…
I ask our readers who are restaurateurs, managers, wine reps, and hoteliers to consider helping us with some bonus prizes. Each winner will receive a framed award (I’ve seen it and it’s real purdy), but dinner for two, a magnum, or an overnight stay in a swishy hotel would be super extra double plus nice of you. This is a revenue zero event for Urban Diner, so every little bit helps!
